Virtual Private Networking: Linking Your Shops Together

As a basic requirement you will need a broadband connection at each site. This will ensure that all locations can be connected as a single network using the internet.

With modern technology a site can have a single broadband connection (saving you cost of multiple telephone lines) which will allow our systems to:

   a) Poll / send and collect all transactional information between sites
   b) Process chip and pin transactions
   c) Utilise VOIP (free telephone) between locations
   d) Utilise Internet Access
   e) Allow Remote support from our technical team

Virtual Private Networking (VPN) is a technology that allows data to be transmitted securely between remote sites over the internet. It creates what is known as a "Tunnel" through the "Cloud", this means that although each site is connected to the internet they will also have a safe and secure connection to the head office.

What this also means is that a technical team at the head office can remotely resolve technical issues without visiting the site itself*. This improves the speed and flexibility of your business and reduces the need to have a technician on-site at all times.

Many businesses find further uses for the VPN link, including distribution of the head office system. In this method, users can log-on to the system at any site** in the business using exactly the same details and be presented with the exact same screen and applications that they would normally have access too. This system, sometimes referred to as remote or teleworking, means that managers can easily travel between sites.

* - Hardware based issues can not be resolved remotely.
**- Network infrastructure for remote working is available separately and is not part of the actual e-commerce package, but can be provided and installed at the same time (please contact us for further details)
